Over The Hedge Blu-Ray cover (version 2.1) by FreezingIceKirby Over The Hedge Blu-Ray cover (version 2.1) by FreezingIceKirby
If you know me, then this comes to no surprise; Over The Hedge is one of my favorite movies of all time.  Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect, nor will I lie and say it's something everyone will enjoy... but I love the movie and always enjoy watching it.  With that said, I've been waiting a long time for Dreamworks to release a Blu-Ray... and sadly, it hasn't happened yet,.  At this point, I'm starting to believe we won't ever get one (with some possible evidence supporting that, too).
So, just for kicks, I decided to make my own Blu-Ray cover art for the movie.  Eventually, I'm going to print this out and include it along with my Blu-Ray collection, for no good reason other than to make it look like one DOES exist... because I get the feeling this will be the closest I'll ever get to owning the film on Blu-Ray. :tears:

(Whenever I do print this out, I'll be sure to post an image of what it looks like on an actual blu-ray case.)

Update - Version 2.0

Increased the resolution by nearly twice the amount it was before.  Of course, to do this meant I had to start over from scratch... but hey, it's better now, and when printed off, it'll look even less pixelated.  I also added in a few new things, like the bar code/proof of purchase, improved title on the spine, and whatnot.

Unless I make some minor edits here and there, this will probably be the final version.  Of course, I'm open to suggestions if there are ways of improving this.

Update - Version 2.1

After comparing this to other blu-ray covers, I discovered the height was about half an inch off.  I used a template I believed was correct, so that wasn't really a folly on my part.  In any case, going by the resolution of other cover arts I found online, I repaired the image and added the extra half-inch to the cover (which works out better this way, considering before it was really narrow between Verne and the title).

(The spine might still be a little off though, but I'm not too entirely sure yet.)

I also removed the white border around the image, since none of the other Blu-ray print-off covers include it.

DreamWorks sucks because Over The Hedge has gotten the shaft like Rise Of The Guardians! :(

Great job! :D

I'd like to imagine Over The Hedge gets ignored because of a licensing issue (seeing as it's based on a comic, which came first in 1995)... which would explain why they haven't released a Blu-Ray yet.  Unfortunately, I do believe I know the REAL answer why... and this applies to Rise of the Guardians as well; they didn't make back that much money... at least, not an amount that was absolutely pleasing to Dreamworks.  It's also why we'll probably never see a sequel to either films, either... a real shame too, if you ask me (I was hoping both would get one, but it just wasn't meant to be...). :tears:

Also, thanks for the compliment on the cover!

DreamWorks is definitely using tunnel vision. They're relying too much on box office revenues and not stepping back and seeing the big picture (DVD, Blu-ray, video on-demand, legitimate digital downloads, merchandising, etc.). Thier business model is outdated IMHO, because less people are going to the movies nowadays. Why go to a crowded theater when you eventually buy the DVD or Blu-ray, plus a top-of-the-line home entertainment sytem, plus you can go to Wal-Mart or Target and get popcorn, candy, nachos, and sodas for about 50-75% less than at the concession stand!

As a matter of fact today Animated Views posted a link to this article on this very subject:…

I was poking around online for a Blu-ray of this myself, and I managed to find downloads of one.
I think it was released in India or something.

I think I might have seen something like that a long time ago, but I can't really recall.  I believe it was in another language, but I never paid much attention to it because I thought the case was just a photo manipulation used on some Torrent site or something.  If one does exist, I wouldn't mind buying it... provided it's affordable and my blu-ray player isn't region-locked. -lol-

(If it does exist, I get the feeling that's the best the world's going to see. :tears: )

Here's a place to find it:…
And it's in English!

You can download torrents, right? Can you play .mkv files?

While I appreciate you taking the time to find that and send me a link... the truth is, I downloaded a 1080p version a long time ago. lol

But again, I appreciate it.

Rooooose.... bud! *Collapses*

Oh, dear... don't get me started on this.  If you want to have a quote-fest regarding this movie, I can carry this all the way to midnight and beyond.   Believe it or not, there was actually a time I had every line in this movie memorized.  I can't do that nowadays, but I do still remember a good portion of it.  Hey, watching it ten times in ten days can do that to you.

(You'll probably remark how unbelievable it is I'd watch it that many times in a row... but just remember that video I posted a week ago.  Yeah, I was THAT obsessed with the movie.  Glad I'm not like that nowadays... I hope. lol)

Also, thanks for the compliment. :D
